The Scuderia Mistero was born in 2015 as a natural development of the Di Poggio breeding business, taking its name from the first great Italian champion to have won the Grand Prix d’Amerique. The first horse of the stable is the by now legendary Obama di Celo (of Abano AS) which belonged to Massimo Barbini – today coach of the stable and coordinator of the team that follows the horses of Mistero – with which our founder Giorgio Sandi had the joy of his first victories on the track.

Obama di Celo

Creation entirely internal to the Scuderia is that of Cresus di Poggio from Muscle Hill and Oui di Poggio (Varenne), which after a respectful journey in Italy has been in France for a year in the hands of Jean Michel Bazire where it has begun to show its potential with 5 victories on the difficult black slope of Vincennes and a record of 1.10.8 on the long distance for 172,000 euros in winnings.

Many horses competed for the tricolor colors of our jacket, starting with Valzer di Poggio (the first horse that the stable brought into the race after Obama), who later became an international champion in France under the guidance of Jean Michel Bazire with his 14 victories on 11 different tracks, right and left hand, over all distances and unbeaten record of 11 consecutive victories, almost 400,000 euros in sums won for a long distance record of 1.11.4, participating as a protagonist in the races that qualify the participants in the Grand Prix D’Amerique and missing it due to a small injury. Today Valzer di Poggio, back in Italy, enjoys a well-deserved rest and works as a stallion at the di Poggio farm, not missing when possible to participate in some races, being kept in training using the facilities of the stables.

In Scuderia Mistero today all eyes are on Destiny di Poggio (from Bold Eagle and Sand Grenade), a mare with great potential whose maturation we are waiting for, the two most promising “E letters” (i.e. born in 2020, three years today) Ermete di Poggio (from Father Patrick and Oui di Poggio, brother of Cresus di Poggio!) and Elettra di Poggio (from Father Patrick and Idole di Poggio, heir to the great mother!), by Frejia di Poggio (Maharajah and Gliding Fashion from Yankee Glide ) and Florrie (Manofmanymissions and Regale di Poggio da Varenne) who will be able to debut from June 2023. The Italians are joined by the four promising French fillies purchased in 2022 at the selected yearling auctions of Deauville Lavande Castelets (Bold Eagle and Cybele Castelets by Quaker Jet ), Lorene d’Aveze (Sam Bourbon and Tessy d’Aveze from Not Disturb), Liberty Fast (Uriel Speed and Pensee Magique from Gai Brillant whose second dam Kidea is none other than the dam of Ready Cash, the largest stallion French of the last 30 years) and Lovely Green (Feliciano and Tootsie Smiling from Goetmals Wood).

The Scuderia Mistero makes use of first-rate structures to develop the potential of the Poggio foals and those purchased in the most important European and world auctions and bring them to compete in competitions on tracks throughout Europe, being able to count on a circular track from kilometre, a straight track and a one-kilometre sandpit, as well as the most modern equipment and the best professionals coordinated by the expert hands of Massimo Barbini.
